Nova, USA Develops New Antistatic Technology for PP, PS and PE

Prostat Corporation, a manufacturer of hand-held electrostatic devices, and Nova Electropolymers, a joint venture company of Israeli resin manufacturer Carmel Olefins, developed electrostatic control technology. The latter is a company that integrates electrical, mechanical, and chemical products such as polypropylene, polystyrene, and polyethylene. Nova Electronic Polymers manufactures permanent electrostatic control products for the electronics, pharmaceuticals, and aerospace industries. It is said that this technology utilizes the modification of the polymer itself to add properties and composite technology. The final polymer has a stable, optimal electrostatic discharge range (resistance value of 10 million to 1 billion ohms) and is independent of humidity. It can compete with electrically conductive polyolefins filled with carbon black and graphite and polystyrene (typically having a static discharge resistance of 10,000 ohms), which uses conventional organic additives to migrate to the surface of the polymer and react with moisture.
Nova Electronic Polymers specializes in the production of injection molding, thermoforming, and extrusion blends. Prices range from $3 to $4.5/lb for electrostatic discharge resins. Special alloys such as non-halogenated UL94V-0 blends and strictly clean indoor environments. Mixtures under conditions are priced from $6 to $7 per pound.
