Champagne bottle will use metal stopper

The famous French champagne producer Champagne house Duval-Leroy will launch a new packaging at the International Wine Expo in London in May - the world's first metal bottled champagne. It can not only replace the traditional champagne cork, but at the same time, it still retains the crisp sound and champagne spouting effect of traditional champagne opening.

The new packaging was developed by Alcan Packaging, the world's leading packaging supplier, and designed specifically for sparkling wine packaging. Prior to the launch of the new packaging in May, details on such closures will be kept confidential. Alcan is part of the Rio Tinto Alcan Group. It supplies mainly stationary wine caps and Stelvin aluminum caps.

The bottle stopper, which was defined by the Aluminum Group as "revolutionary", was first used in small quantities in the Clos des Bouveries series of De Lavale champagne to test the market reaction.

A winery spokesman said that the main purpose of using metal plugs is to avoid cork contamination. At the same time, this cork is also easier and safer to operate.
