Talking about the color management of corrugated carton

Chromatic aberration is the difference between the color of the same product and the standard. Chromatic aberration has gradually become the focus of customer attention, becoming a barrier to market competition, becoming a brand of packaging and printing companies, and becoming a sword for companies to fight the market. In fact, the customer's demand for color differences has increased. This is a double-edged sword for packaging and printing companies. Good control of color difference can be used to thwart competitors. If the control is not good, customers will complain, return, and even be ruthlessly eliminated by the market.

The prevalence of sales packaging has prompted its advertising role to gradually outweigh its protective functions. Therefore, the customer's requirements for product color will be more specific and even data. However, there is no explicit requirement for this item in the national standards of corrugated boxes in China, and most of them are based on the color difference requirements in "Plates for Decorative Prints". But for corrugated carton packaging, it is a bit far-fetched. According to the author's observation and summary, the color difference of corrugated box products is mainly divided into three situations:

The color difference between products in the same batch defines: a certain number of certain products, materials, or services (or unit products that are put together for sampling inspections). Batch batches and isolated batches. A series of batches that are continuously produced in the same production process, as long as the product's design, structure, process, and major raw materials are basically the same, are continuous batches. Batches that cannot be assigned as continuous batches are called isolated batches, such as single batches, few batches, etc. In our actual production, there are often these two situations. The standard of color difference in the same batch is specified in Table 5 of Article 2.4 of GB/T7705: Delta Eab is less than 5.00.

The difference in color between different batches The difference in product color between batches. There is no clear provision in the national standards or industry standards. Generally, the scope of the franchise shall be established in accordance with the requirements of the client (some clients may set three standard samples of dark, medium and light colors). Although this standard can be artificially relaxed, but now the consumer's demand has increased, businesses will never allow products with large color differences to be displayed in their own supermarket counters. Therefore, some sets the color difference standard for different batches to the same color difference as the same batch. In fact, this standard is very challenging.

The color difference between different packaging printing manufacturers is mainly caused by the difference in raw materials, personnel technology, and production environment. It can be said that the difference in any one of the links may cause the color difference of the packaging products. The color difference range of products from different manufacturers is generally slightly wider, but it is also very limited.

For the understanding of chromatic aberration, one is *experience observation and the other is *instrument measurement. Most companies nowadays are mainly based on the first method. Enterprises that use densitometers or spectrodensitometers are still rare. So, are the two methods better than others? The author thinks: For the understanding of chromatic aberration, these two methods are shorter and have more advantages. The disadvantages of empirical observation are: instability, changes in the human visual environment with changes in the external environment, changes in physiological emotions, it is very easy to cause print color. The optical density meter is relatively scientific and stable, but the cost is relatively high, and now the number of lines printed on corrugated boxes is low, the dots are larger, and different measurement methods can also cause greater errors. However, according to the development trend of corrugated box packaging, color data measurement and data management are the general trend.

So, how can we reduce the color difference of the carton?

Stable ink quality Stable ink quality is a key factor in controlling chromatic aberration. Because many customers now choose to modulate spot color inks in order to promote the uniqueness of their products and increase their anti-counterfeiting capabilities. The proportion of spot color ink must be accurate, so as to ensure the hue of the ink is stable, and the brightness and saturation meet the requirements.

Non-woven fabric, is a new generation of environmental protection materials, with water repellent, breathable, flexible, non-combustion, non-toxic and non-irritating, rich color characteristics. If the non-woven cloth is placed outside and decomposed naturally, its maximum life is only 90 days. If placed indoors, it will decompose within 5 years. When burning, it is non-toxic, odorless and free of any residual substances, so as not to pollute the environment and is suitable for washing. It has the environmental protection performance which the plastic product does not have, its by the natural degradation time is far lower than the plastic bag, therefore, USES the non-woven fabric to make the non-woven fabric bag also to be recognized as the most economical environmental protection shopping bag.
