Brief introduction of flexographic printing process

The basic principles and basic knowledge of flexo printing.

Fundamental

Like offset printing, flexo printing is also indirect printing. as the picture shows:


A: Rubber roller B: Anilox roller C: Plate roller D: Pressure roller E: Resin plate F: Cell on the anilox roller G: Ink H: Substrate

By rotating the rubber roller to wipe the ink, the ink is stored in F and kept in the cavity by its tension. When it comes in contact with the E on the C roller, the ink is transferred to the resin plate with graphics (that is, it protrudes from the dot) Part C is rotated and pressed by roller C and roller D onto the substrate H to complete a single-color printing.

The core parts are B and E. It is B, the anilox roller: it is called the heart of the flexo printing machine. The depth and the shape of the mesh holes (the amount of ink stored) directly affect the quality of the printed product.

E is directly in contact with the substrate, and of course its quality is understandable. The photosensitive resin version currently in use was invented by Miss Chen, a Chinese from DuPont; now the highest resolution can reach 175 lines, and some more exquisite printing can be completed.

B flexo printing has attracted more and more attention from the world because of its environmental protection. Regardless of whether it uses water-based or alcohol-based inks, for the current printing inks such as offset printing, it is really environmentally friendly. The development speed of flexo printing in the world in recent years has greatly exceeded that of other printing.

Flexo printing was first used in carton packaging. Today, carton packaging is still the largest user in the flexo market. It is unknown whether there will be changes in the future. In addition: printing of shopping bags and handbags; printing of envelopes, letterheads, notebook inner pages; paper cups, paper food bags; napkins; trademark printing, etc. are all used. The paper products of McDonald's, KFC and other cups and food that people often eat are flexo printed, and McDonald's paper products across the country are printed in the development zone of Guangzhou.

China's flexo printing equipment and water-based ink are still at a low level. After joining the WTO, their market potential will be inestimable. It is as if China has played an increasingly important role in the global economic integration. Of course, the matching anilox roller must also have a lot to do.
