Krones packaging machine using ultra-thin packaging ultra-light PET bottles

Shrinkable film packaging is energy-saving and environmentally friendly, and consumes less resources and energy than other packaging. For example, PE requires only one-third of the energy needed to produce paper, and there are fewer raw materials needed to use PE film than cardboard. Shrink film requires less material, low cost, small size, small storage space, light weight, low transmission costs, and high efficiency for customers, and the thinner the film, the more savings.

At the interpack trade show, Lens of Germany Krones AG demonstrated the ultra-thin film packaging of ultra-light PET bottles with the new Variopac Pro packaging machine. This recently launched 0.5-litre PET bottle weighs only 8.8 grams and is wrapped in a shrink-wrapping machine with a 25-μm thick PE film that is light to thin.
