At present, the proportion of the printing industry in Beijing’s entire industry is low, which is inconsistent with the status and function of the capital, and there is a big gap compared with some international metropolises. For example, in 1993, Tokyo's publishing industry ranked first in the manufacturing industry, and its output value accounted for 43% of the total output value of Japan's printing and publishing industry. The output value of Paris's printing and publishing industry accounts for about 50% of the total value of the French printing and publishing industry. In 1994, the output value of the printing industry in Hong Kong SAR ranked third in the manufacturing industry in the Hong Kong SAR. I. Current Status of Beijing Printing Industry Technology Development (I) Status of Technology Development In the early 1980s, there were more than 800 printing companies in Beijing, outdated equipment, backward technology, few product varieties, and weak production capacity. The contradiction between supply and demand was prominent.
After the mid-1980s, in order to support the development of the printing industry, the municipal government adopted measures such as the adjustment of institutions and the reduction of profits and taxes. In 1986, the Beijing Printing Group Corporation was established. In 1994, Beijing Lightlink Packaging and Printing Group was established. The printing enterprises in each district, county, street, and township flourished. At the same time, the Press and Publication Administration has established a Chinese printing company. The central ministries and commissions, military units, colleges and universities, and newspaper-affiliated printing companies have also made great progress. At present, there are 1,769 enterprises in Beijing including books and periodicals, color offset printing, newspaper printing, packaging and printing, rapid printing, securities and bill printing, and stationery printing, and employ more than 90,000 people.
According to the ownership of enterprises, there are 489 state-owned printing enterprises in Beijing, accounting for 27.6%; 972 collective enterprises, accounting for 54.9%; 122 foreign-funded enterprises, accounting for 6.9%; 86 individual enterprises, accounting for 4.9%; and 100 other companies. It accounts for 5.7%. According to the affiliation, there are 192 printing companies in central Beijing (including publishing houses), accounting for 10.8%; 37 printing enterprises in Beijing, accounting for 2.1%; 49 printing enterprises under universities and colleges, accounting for 2.8% There were 204 printing enterprises in Beijing, accounting for 11.5%; 277 printing enterprises in districts and counties, accounting for 15.7%; 843 printing enterprises in towns and towns, accounting for 47.7%; and 167 other printing enterprises, accounting for 9.4%. According to the classification of printed products, there are 419 printing enterprises in newspapers and periodicals, accounting for 23.68%, and 1350 packaging and printing enterprises and other printing enterprises, accounting for 76.32%. There were 419 fixed-point printing companies in the newspapers and periodicals, including 47 state-level designated printing companies, 190 provincial and municipal-level fixed-point enterprises, and 182 license publications.
In 1998, the total output value of the printing industry in Beijing reached 4.52 billion yuan, the sales of products was 4.4 billion yuan, the profit was 370 million yuan, and the net value of fixed assets was 5.03 billion yuan. In terms of production scale, there are 38 printing enterprises with fixed assets with a net value of over 25 million yuan, accounting for 2% of the total number of printing enterprises, accounting for 32% of the total industrial output value, and accounting for 43% of all profits.
