Cement waste as rubber and plastic filler

In the cement production process, a large amount of cement waste is generated from various devices such as a mixer and a drying chamber. The effective recycling of these cement wastes is very important to both the economy and the environment.

According to reports, cement waste can be used as a filler for polymer materials such as polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, natural rubber, and synthetic rubber. For example, in SBR (J Benzene Rubber), blending cement waste in a prescribed ratio as a filler can act as an activator, thereby enhancing the affinity of the rubber polymer. In order to better make the cement waste enhance the affinity to the polymer chain, the cement waste can be surface treated with a coupling agent in order to improve the interface adhesion performance. As the coupling agent to be used, organosilanes, Voran, zirconium oxide alkoxides, and the like can be used.
