Experts call for vigorous promotion of recycling of waste electrical and electronic products

Environmental experts from home and abroad have proposed that China’s home appliances have now entered the phase of peak elimination. It is necessary to step up the formulation and implementation of relevant laws and regulations and establish a complete recycling system for used household appliances as soon as possible to avoid serious waste of resources due to improper disposal of waste electronic and electrical products. Environmental pollution.

The National Development and Reform Commission Coordination Center for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Foreign Cooperation hosted the “International Symposium on the Recycling of Waste Electrical and Electronic Products” in Beijing on the 24th. Experts from China's relevant government departments such as the National Development and Reform Commission and the European Union and the United States stated that at present, China has entered the period of peak elimination of home appliances, but it has not yet established a standardized recycling and disposal system, which has caused a series of damages to society and the environment: Scrapped home appliances contain many valuable resources that can be recycled, but due to the current dismantling methods, a large number of precious resources have not been fully recycled; toxic and hazardous substances have not been specifically dealt with, causing environmental pollution; some old appliances have exceeded safe use Years of age, but individual dealers use their spare parts to illegally assemble and sell products of inferior quality, which damages the interests of consumers.

Experts proposed that a recycling system for used household appliances should be established for the purpose of resource recycling and environmental protection; a producer responsibility system should be implemented, and household electrical appliance manufacturing enterprises should be responsible for the recycling and disposal of used electrical appliances; recycling enterprises should be market-oriented and the state should give them a policy. Encourage and support.

According to experts, at present, the relevant state departments are stepping up efforts to formulate management measures for the prevention and control of pollution by electronic information products, and require that the design and production of electronic information products in the future use environmentally-friendly and renewable-friendly programs, and prohibit the use of toxic and hazardous materials such as lead and cadmium for a period of time. When entering the market, electronic information products should be marked with material composition, safe use period and whether or not they can be recycled. Producers (including importers) must bear responsibility for the recovery, disposal and reuse of products when they are disposed of.

President of Nokia (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Kang Yubo introduced Nokia's experience in recycling waste electronic and electrical products. Since 1999, Nokia has been actively carrying out various environmental protection activities in China. Last year, Nokia and the State Environmental Protection Administration jointly launched the “Green Recycling Campaign”, which is the first time that mobile phone manufacturers have been recycling large quantities of used mobile phones, accessories and batteries in China.
