Before printing, the printing plate should be scanned to control the color difference between the print and the design to a minimum.

Plate scanning can reach 80% of the normal ink volume required for printing. By adjusting the overall ink characteristic curve, you can quickly produce genuine products, greatly improving work efficiency, especially for those printing jobs without proofing . The printing plate scanning work is more obvious for those short-cut printing with proofing. It greatly shortens the time for commercial rotary machines to open normal ink colors, saves a lot of paper, ink and other raw materials, and reduces costs for enterprises.

If you encounter a discrepancy between the scanned curve and the normal ink curve of the printed product during actual printing, you should generally check the following aspects before printing:

First look at whether the width of the long red film on the edge of the film is correct. The width of the red film is different in different models. For example, the roller of Heidelberg M-600 with a circumference of 598mm requires a red film width of 23mm, while the M-600 has a circumference of 578mm. The roller is required to be 23.1mm. The greater the difference from the actual required width, the greater the impact on the scanning results. Therefore, the actual operation should be combined with the model used, and the solid block of appropriate width is exposed through the red film.

Secondly, check whether the smoothness of the plate used is ideal. Sometimes the plate is dented and the surface is not flat, and the scanning results will also be affected. The flatness of the general domestic printing plate is slightly inferior compared with the original imported foreign version. By adjusting the inspiratory volume of the plate scanner to reduce the impact of plate unevenness. In general, when scanning imported plates, select the level of inspiratory volume as the first level, and when scanning domestic plates, you can choose the level of inhalation of the second or third level, depending on the flat surface of the printing plate. After increasing the amount of suction, the printing plate is more smoothly adsorbed on the scanning panel, which is conducive to correctly reflecting the ink demand of the graphic part of the printing plate. However, blindly increasing the amount of suction may also suck in a lot of dust, and block the suction holes over time, affecting the quality of the scan.

In short, in pre-press production, we should gradually realize that: pre-press production is used to adapt to commercial rotary printing, and commercial rotary printing cannot be used to adapt to pre-press production.
