The specimens should not be in contact with each other, nor should they be in contact with any metallic materials or any materials that are capable of adsorption. The position of each sample should be such that the salt spray can fall freely on all samples. It is recommended that the samples be separated by at least 30mm. The same samples are placed randomly to avoid deviations caused by different spraying methods. For the same reason, each sample can also rotate positions every day.

Suitable materials or coating materials for the support and support are glass, rubber, plastic or suitable coated wood, and bare metal shall not be used. It is best to support from the bottom or side of the sample. Flat test strips are best supported with grooved wood, composite plastic, or inert plastic strips. As long as the sample can be kept in the specified position, it can be hung with a glass hook or waxed rope, and if necessary, additional support is provided at the bottom of the sample.
